Dear Sir,

Thank you for your email.

We are aware of the recent action by Congress to pass the Safe Port Act which includes certain provisions to limit the growth of Internet gaming through the restriction of payments to gaming companies. This bill does not expressly make Internet gaming illegal, nor does it look to target players who enjoy gambling online. Instead, it seeks to prevent online players by restricting the methods bettors can use to fund their Internet wagers.

Pinnacle Sports is licensed by the Government of the Netherlands Antilles and in our licensing agreement it is a legal requirement that we maintain
sufficient funds to be able to honor the winnings of all of our customers at anytime. Pinnacle Sports has earned an industry leading reputation for
providing the quickest payouts online and you can rest assured that your winnings will always be paid. You will continue to have access to your
funds 24/7.

Pinnacle Sports encourages all clients to consult with an independent legal advisor or their local attorney general's office as to the legality of online gaming in their area.

Pinnacle Sports has active customers from more than 100 different countries worldwide and we remain committed to providing a safe, secure
and rewarding online gaming experience for all of our players.

Regards,

Customer Service Department
Pinnacle Sports

No "hmmm" about it...that's just a verbose way of extending a middle finger to Bush and Frist while reassuring American players that they're still welcome there

Excellent Response!!!

Totally agree.

This bill didn't change the status of betting at all. I can't beleive public co. shareholders are not going apeshit that their companies suddenly decided what they were doing was illegal and closed or sold out for $1.

WagerWeb Press Release <HR style="COLOR: #a8a8a8" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Wager Web 10 Years and Counting...
As an online player, you have probably heard about the new legislation passed by the U.S. Congress earlier this week that attempts to prevent you from being able to transfer money to online gaming sites.
While this new law has prompted some sites to announce plans to abandon the U.S. market in coming days, we assure you that Wager Web will continue to provide all of its players - both inside and outside of the United States - with a full complement of game lines and casino tournaments for their enjoyment.
After consultation with numerous legal experts in this field, we want to make you aware of the following:
* Legal
The new U.S. legislation does not in any way attempt to criminalize the act of you playing online. By playing online at Wager Web, you are not breaking any U.S. Federal laws.
* Full Access
The passage of the new Internet Gaming law can take up to 18 months to be approved so for this football season you will not have any impact on your day-to-day experience at Wager Web. We will provide all of our players, everywhere in the world, with full access to all of our games and tournaments.
* Easy Deposits and Withdrawals
We will continue to provide our players with all of the safe, secure and convenient methods for transferring money to and from the site. In fact, in recent discussions with our payment processors, we have been assured that this new law will have no immediate impact on their day-to-day business. And as always, any monies that you have on deposit with Wager Web remain completely safe and secure.
Furthermore, we firmly believe that online gambling is not encompassed by this new legislation. In any event, we will continue to lobby for an express carve-out for online gambling and for your right to play from the privacy of your own home and computer.
We are excited about the future here at Wager Web and in the coming weeks and months, we plan to roll out many new features and promotions to enhance your online gambling experience.
We appreciate your loyalty to our site and, in turn, want you to know that we will remain loyal to our valued players in the United States and throughout the world.
Sincerely,
Dave Johnson
CEO WagerWeb

I thought that this bill makes transfering funds illegal? Also some states (I think 9) say Internet gambling is illegal - will they now enforce that?

100 Countries?
Does anyone know how many countries there are in the world?
What I'm trying to find out is; Do the majority of countries in the world prohibit online wagering with other countries?

The US does not prohibit it within it's own borders--but that is a WHOLE other issue.

It's tough to get an *exact* count of the number of countries, but I read not long ago that there's somewhere in the neighborhood of 193.

According to this, there's 194 if you count Taiwan--if you don't (and it depends on the political situation in each country as many don't recognize it officially) there are 193

Well if Pinnacle is reporting accurately and If the other countries ALLOW it; then it's simple. The US is in the minority when it comes to allowing people to have freedom of choice. Land of the Free?
